Seat Requirements

 Extra Territorial Jurisdiction Resident (ETJ)  Must live within the Town of Chapel Hill’s Extraterritorial Jurisdiction.
 Joint Planning Area Resident (JPA) or Extra Territorial Jurisdiction Resident (ETJ)  Must live within the Town of Chapel Hill’s Joint Planning Area or the Extraterritorial Jurisdiction as outlined in the Joint Planning Agreement.

Chapel Hill Resident

Must live within the municipal limits of the Town of Chapel Hill.

Appointing Body

All members are appointed by the Chapel Hill Town Council except for the Extraterritorial Jurisdiction Resident (ETJ) and Joint Planning Area Resident (JPA) seats which shall be appointed by the Orange County Board of Commissioners.
