If a resident observes a hazardous situation during nonworking hours, call 911. 

The Public Works Department only removes dead animals from the right-of-way within town limits on town roads and sidewalks. We do not collect dead animals from private property or wooded areas. Report a dead animal directly to the Solid Waste Services Division using the form above or call 919-969-5100.

For the removal of dead animals on state-maintained roads, call:

  • North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) 1-877-368-4968.

For all other roads in the area, the proper service providers may be found below:

  • Hillsborough Public Works 919-732-1270
  • Unincorporated Orange County 919-296-6080
